Riichi Kuze is an unusual second-year high school student who observes changes in people’s actions and feelings like logs, looking for their causes.
His childhood friend Hiyori Tsukishima brings him a dilemma: “I think Sota is about to confess to me. But if I turn him down, I’m afraid it will ruin the relationship between the three of us.”
Riichi does not start by looking for a way to stop the confession. Instead, he asks: “Why does Sota want to confess now?”
What he eventually finds is a certain anxiety, something a little different from romantic feelings.
After school, Mio Shirase, the top student in their year, approaches Riichi. She has watched the entire affair unfold.
