Getting home turns into a whole adventure in RV There Yet?

The vacation is over. All that is left is the drive home—until a detour sends your camper van into the backcountry.

RV There Yet? is an adventure about getting one RV home, playable solo or in online co-op with up to four players. The question that caught our attention: while one person drives, what is everyone else doing?

A simple destination, a difficult journey

Your group must find a way through the backcountry to an exit onto Route 65. Getting home is an easy goal to understand. Looking at the official footage, getting the vehicle through the next stretch of road seems like the more immediate concern.

The RV has winches at both the front and rear, with physics-based cable mechanics. Obstacles call for more than pressing the accelerator: where to attach a line and which direction to pull become part of the problem.

That clear objective gives every obstacle a purpose. We like the prospect of everyone stopping to solve one small stretch of road together, with home still somewhere beyond it.

There is more to the trip than the driver's seat

Proximity voice chat makes distance part of communication. Talking inside the RV and coordinating outside it are different situations to think about.

A driver, someone checking the route outside, someone handling a winch: these are possible ways to share the work, rather than fixed character classes. Everyone depends on the same vehicle moving forward.

That shared responsibility is the appeal for us. Good teamwork could be satisfying; a vague instruction could become the story everyone remembers from the trip.

Even the journey home needs a meal break

Food and supplies matter along the way, and you can grill burgers. Between the driving and the obstacles, there is room for the everyday business of a road trip.

Traveling, getting stuck, and eating around the same vehicle gives the group a shared space. That premise interests us as much as reaching the destination: the time spent together could be the reason to play.
