A strikingly narrow rule for exploring the world.
GAMES WE’RE RANDOMLY HIGHLIGHTING
The only thing you can do on the map is pray — ASAGE caught our attention
In a serene blue-green forest, you gather rice, miso soup, pickled vegetables, and grilled fish. ASAGE is a short hand-drawn adventure about completing one traditional Japanese breakfast through charming, slightly strange minigames.

A compact experience built around completing one breakfast.
Instructions are presented visually, with very little dialogue or text.
A breakfast game where exploring means praying
The official description leads with a wonderfully specific rule: the only action available on the world map is prayer. Rather than filling the map with conventional interactions, the game lets encounters with forest residents move things forward. Pairing the ordinary goal of making breakfast with such an unusual action gives ASAGE an immediately distinctive premise.
Rice, miso soup, pickles, grilled fish — one complete breakfast
The meal itself is simple and familiar: rice, miso soup, pickled vegetables, and grilled fish. You meet residents of the forest and gather what you need through a collection of charming, slightly strange minigames. Instead of stretching into a huge adventure, the whole experience stays focused on one small objective: finish breakfast.
Hand-drawn animation with very little reliance on language
The world is animated frame by frame by hand. According to the official description, the game contains almost no dialogue or written text, and its instructions are presented visually. English and Japanese interfaces are supported. Together with the short playtime, that makes ASAGE feel designed to be understood through observation and interaction rather than explanation.
